Maintenance services for synchronous motors
Maintenance of synchronous motors includes bearing lubrication, cleaning of rotor and stator, inspection of electrical connections, ventilation system checks and a range of diagnostic services such as vibration analysis, infrared thermography and verification of the field excitation system integrity.
However, synchronous motors require more frequent preventive maintenance than asynchronous motors, as they include more complex components such as the field excitation system, which supplies direct current to the rotor, as well as brushes and slip rings, which must be inspected, cleaned and periodically replaced.
A good alternative to reduce maintenance costs is represented by brushless motors, which eliminate brushes, or by permanent magnet motors, where the rotor contains magnets that lock into the stator’s rotating magnetic field and follow it at the same speed, ensuring precise, efficient and compact performance.

Synchronous motors are less common in industry compared to asynchronous motors, as they are more expensive and complex to manage, including from a maintenance perspective.
However, they are the ideal solution for applications requiring high precision, power and efficiency, such as in the steel industry with large pumps, rolling mills and compressors, in the pulp and paper industry with process rollers and continuous lines, in chemical processing with powerful mixers and agitators, and in plastics extrusion and rubber processing.
