When to perform motor rewinding and its advantages
Windings can become damaged over time or due to continuous motor operation, but these are not the only reasons to perform motor rewinding.
Rewinding may also be required following failures caused by persistent overheating or short circuit, as well as in cases where the motor is still in good condition. In fact, other components such as the housing, shaft and bearings may remain intact, and especially for large and high-value motors, rewinding is often more cost-effective than complete replacement.
