Types of ATEX motors
In addition to explosion-proof motors, the most widely used ATEX motors, there are other types available:
- “Ex e” increased safety: designed to minimise the risk of sparks or overheating, with reinforced terminals and electrical insulation
- “Ex t” dust ignition protection: sealed motors that prevent the ingress of combustible dust, ideal for mills, silos and cement manufacturing
- “Ex n” for low-risk zones: cost-effective and lightweight, suitable for environments where explosive atmospheres occur only occasionally
- “Ex p” pressurised: the motor is pressurised with air or inert gas, preventing hazardous substances from entering
